What a lot of people don’t understand is that behind every standout athlete is a level of dedication that often goes unseen. An dedication that involves balancing enormous academic pressures along with intense athletic demands. For Kendall Taylor, success comes from balancing the demands of both academics and athletics. As a key contributor to the girls’ basketball team, Kendall exemplifies what it means to be a true student-athlete.
Kendall’s commitment begins long before game day. On Sundays, while many are resting, she is busy preparing for the week ahead. She meal preps healthy lunches to ensure her body is fueled properly each day, understanding that nutrition plays a major role in performance. Along with this, she maintains a consistent workout routine throughout the week to stay in peak physical condition, on top of team practices and competitive g

ames.
During the preseason, Kendall’s work ethic is especially evident. She spends early mornings in the gym before school, focusing on improving her shot and refining her skills. “You can’t just show up at try-outs after 6 months of rest and expect to be #1” she says. She also participates fully in preseason conditioning, pushing herself physically to be prepared when the season begins. These extra hours of effort have paid off, as she has become a reliable presence on the court.
Kendall’s accomplishments speak for themselves. She is a member of the prestigious 1,000 Points Club, a milestone that reflects years of hard work and consistency. This season, she averages 10 points per game and 8 rebounds, contributing both offensively and defensively for her team. Her performance has not gone unnoticed, as she has already received multiple offers from college basketball programs.

Just as impressive as her athletic success is Kendall’s dedication to academics. She holds herself to high standards in the classroom, striving for excellence in everything she does. “It’s definitely a lot, most people don’t understand the time constraints and pressure it puts on student athletes to juggle both.” she says. Last semester, she earned a 3.8 GPA and is currently enrolled in multiple difficult classes in order to prepare herself for success beyond high school athletics. She’s going on to study criminal justice as well and potentially work for the FBI.
Balancing early mornings, intense practices, games, and rigorous coursework is no easy task, but Kendall Taylor continues to rise to the challenge. Her discipline, determination, and commitment make her a deserving choice for Athlete of the Month, and a role model for what it truly means to be a student-athlete.
