As a student, it is a common concept to wonder about what your teachers do during their free time. We asked seven different teachers about their hobbies and favorite vacation spots for the summer. During summer break, it’s difficult to think about how our teachers also have a long break from school. So what do they spend their time on?
Well, Mrs. Hamm, a social studies teacher, has been teaching for 33 years. She spends the majority of her summer reading and travelling. Her go-to vacation spot is Disney, where she loves to spend time with her family.
Mr. Brown has been teaching for 25 years. He spends his time on vacation, mostly in Florida or camping somewhere. Something that would surprise his students about his summer is that he is a theater director! Mr. Brown has been directing theater for a long time now.
Ms. Conrad has been a librarian for 20 years. She enjoys lots of live music during her time off, and loves to visit St. Bart’s Caribbean! While in the Caribbean, she does a lot of snorkeling. As well as travelling, Ms. Conrad has her own pottery studio that she practices in!
Mr. Smith has been a teacher for four years. During the summer, he spends a lot of time with his family. He likes to golf, and vacation around Florida. Something that Mr. Smith thinks would surprise his students (although I beg to differ), is that he stays up super late during the long break and plays video games.
Mrs. Starling has been teaching for ten years. When she isn’t travelling with her husband’s family all over Italy, she spends a lot of time reading. And, surprisingly, playing Stardew Valley.
Mrs. Maynard has been teaching for 24 years and she spends the majority of her summer reading by the pool. Her and her husband like to travel to new places for vacation, and they don’t particularly have a go-to spot.
Mrs. Lubker has been teaching for 30 years and she actually has a second job during the summer! With this biology teacher’s break(from teaching) she has learned to be a master juggler and loves to run! Mrs. Lubker’s go to vacation spot is Hawaii!!
Who would have known that learning about our teachers’ summer lives would be so interesting. We thank all of the teachers that shared this information with us and hope that they have a great summer! Remember to be kind to your teachers and have a great summer!!
