You would think that the Kentucky Derby would be all about the horse’s which it is in a technical sense but I mean really get to know the horses of the Derby.So I took a look at the horse contenders that are queuing up for the race I’ll be using the top contender,middle contender,and the last contender.Please note the Kentucky derby winner was Golden tempo
Top contender-Commandment/Jockey-Flavien prat
Commandment is 3 years old making him a colt [any horse that is under 4 years old] he is an American Thoroughbred this breed of horse’s are highly specialized in speed and their strong will to lead making them esteemed racers especially for flat dirt ground.Commandment himself has won at Church Hill Downs, and the Gulfstream Park.His sire or father is Into Mischief whose known to be tied for the most kids to be Kentucky derby winners a total of three and if Commandment lives up to his brothers Authentic,Sovereignty,and Mandaloun he could make Into Mischief the only sire to have 4 kids win the Kentucky derby.His mother or his dam is Sippican Harbor the daughter of Orb the 2013 Kentucky Derby winner.So while Commandment is young and slightly inexperienced he still has wins under his hooves and the family lineage to back him up.Middle contender Incredibolt/Jockey-Jaime Torres
Incredibolt is also three years old another Thoroughbred just not American,An American bred for long distance instead of short sprints and they mature much faster then their Euro cousins.Along with both being natural leaders Thoroughbred’s are much more patient compared Incrdibolt has won two races at the Virgina Derby with a 6-1 odds and the win at Churchill downs.His sire Bolt’d’oro is known for having a strong and unbreakable spirit in racing and his early career he was an elite junior racing in grade 1 races.His dam is Sapphire Spitfire who is the daughter of Awesome Again who is know to produce grade one winners that always compete.
Last contender Ocelli/Jockey-Joseph D. Ramos
Another thoroughbred Ocelli another colt Ocelli is a patient and careful horse and could be a underdog in the Derby.He has no wins under his belt only showing up in seconded and third places.His sire is Connect who has the famous of Curlin who has won horse of the year 2007 and 2008 .His dam Zalia who was bred out of famous winner Scat daddy who sired a bunch of triple crown winners.
