The end of the school year is rapidly approaching, and along with it, all of our tests. Many people may feel as though they are ready for these tests. So what can people do to fix this? Simply talking to your teachers can be a big help. You might be able to find out more specifically what will be on the test or maybe even get a study guide.
One of the most important things you can do to prepare for a test is to not ignore seemingly small things like making sure you have everything you need for the test the night before. It is also vital to not cram before a test. It is good to study the night before but spending hours memorizing as much as you can or learning new material the night before a test is not helpful, it leaves you less likely to remember the information and can increase stress. Getting a full night of sleep can also help you, it is one of the most important things you can do as this can help you think more clearly and better deal with stress and anxiety during a test. It is also very helpful to care for your physical needs like eating and drinking plenty of food and water to limit distractions.
It is not too late to start studying. Make your own flashcards for yourself. Start preparing now for any test. Ms. Maynard says that the best way she has seen students study is making a group and finding a spot to study. Again cramming is one of the worst things you can do.
During the test there are many strategies to help avoid anxiety and get the best score possible. First, start with the questions you understand, it is okay to skip over the hard questions as long as you remember to come back to them. When you inevitably start to feel stressed or overwhelmed it’s not a bad idea to take a minute or two to take a mental break to refresh yourself. After you finish the test make sure every question has been answered. With any remaining time go review what questions, do not put your head down use all of your given time
