Education and school are key in Mr. Maschenik’s daily life. He loves teaching children and helps them understand how important it is to value their education. Maschenik has a lot of experience in education and has even taught at three different schools. From teaching at Moore High School and Middle School, to Highland Middle, and of course to Ballard High School. He has been teaching for 10 years, 4 of them at Ballard, starting in 2016.
Mr. Maschenik’s favorite grade to teach is freshmen, although now teaching older kids. He says his favorite period currently is the ones that show him appreciation and try their hardest to understand him. He originally did not want to teach high school at all and wanted to keep being a middle school teacher, but there were too many math teachers in the schools he wanted. Although that didn’t work out for him, he is glad it all ended up here, at Ballard.
If Maschenik weren’t a math teacher, he says he would probably go into medical bill coding, and if he had to choose a different subject to teach other than math, it would be computer science or physics. He finds these subjects fascinating and has good experience with numbers. The hardest part of being a math teacher is when he asks for resources. There is none for him, and when he motivates children to want to know a subject that they feel won’t help them later in life. He says the easiest part of his job is that he doesn’t have to grade essays like an English teacher.
Now we know Mr. Maschenik’s life in teaching, but what about outside of teaching? What does he do? Where does he go? Well, he has many hobbies, such as going to the gym, paddleboarding, traveling, and many other activities to keep him going. He has been to many different places and is a very outgoing person!
In conclusion, Mr Maschenik is a great teacher who helps lots of kids learn new things. He loves his job and does it well. Mr. Maschenik should always be recognized for how much work he puts into his job.
