During the second semester, teachers have experienced students taking advantage of their policies. Some being about behavior in class, bathrooms, halls, library, and others about the phone policy. Teachers such as Mr. Ransom have already expressed disappointment in students that appear to be causing trouble in his own classroom. Students have been taking his pencils, unplugging his lights, screaming in class, and so on. When asked about said behavior, Ransom said, “Some students have respect, some don’t. Students are going to misbehave no matter what, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
On the other hand, the librarians, Ms. Conrad and Ms. Risinger, have similar experiences regarding lunch in the library. Students have been bringing in food and leaving out their trash, and the librarians have had to clean up multiple times. “I keep having to pick up after students, it’s ridiculous! Students should know how to clean up their space,” says Ms. Conrad. Additionally, Ms. Risinger has had problems with the bathrooms. Students have been taking up time in the women’s restrooms and disregarding others who do need to use it. She goes deeper into explaining that students should have more care for the school and the students around them, while also respecting teachers better.
Overall many teachers have expressed the same thing with students behavior and how they treat the facilities given at Ballard. And that many students should improve such behaviors if they are expected to be outstanding citizens real life society.
