I have been with the Ballard newspaper, BetweenTheLines, since my Freshman year of high school. As I enter my Senior year, I have had my sights set on what sort of power this publication is capable of. A few of my goals include increasing engagement in the paper both in and out of class, receiving school recognition, and improving the website’s formatting.
Along with these goals, I’d like to share some ideas we have planned for the newspaper. First, we’re adding a comic section to the newspaper where students may submit comic strips to be displayed on the website. Second, we’re making sure every student is heard, and reporters can now apply for positions to become even more immersed in the newspaper. Third, and finally, we’re going to become more socially present. Whether it’s on Instagram or TikTok, we’re going to be here and there and present in the moment to report about.
