With Ballard’s four lunch periods, the experiences can be so different, mostly based on which lunch you are in. Any student would say that the lunches aren’t equal and are honestly very different, but what makes each lunch so different?
A lunch is mostly freshman, “The food is pretty warm, and I tend to always get the sauces they provide.” a freshman student states. Hadley and I had started to walk around after we interviewed 3 students who had all stated that the food was warmer and they tended to get it everyday. We noticed most people in this lunch had gotten the school food, sauces, and sometimes some students would get seconds.
We wrote down our observations and moved onto the next lunch. B lunch had mostly freshmen once again, but also a mix of juniors. Hadley and I walked around, and all the answers were quite similar. “The food is somewhat warm, some sauces are gone and a lot of the tables are a bit messy, but the food is good enough to eat” a senior states. We noticed not a lot of people decided to get seconds like they did in 1st lunch, but people still tended to get sauces, but avoided a few tables that had food on them.
We move onto the C lunch. This lunch is mostly full of seniors and sophomores. This lunch had a lot of people who didn’t even bother trying to see what was for lunch, most people had just sat down or walked around with their friends. “I don’t tend to eat the lunch, but when I’m really hungry and get some, a lot of the food is cold or just looks fake. The sauces are gone by this point, but some of it isn’t all that bad, mostly depends on what you get you know?” a sophomore we had asked had stated. The lunch didn’t have a lot of people in the lines quickly, most people either got lunch from home, shared lunch with their friends, or just didn’t eat at all. The people who got lunch, tended to just eat the packed part of it, like the chips or the ice cream cups.
The last lunch, D lunch was mostly juniors and sophomores had people sit down quickly, people grabbed their seats really quick and again similar to C lunch, didn’t have a lot of people who tried to even see what was for lunch. We walked around some more, people avoided a lot of tables that tended to have sauces, mashed up food, and sometimes just left over trays from the last lunch. The lunch was pretty similar to C lunch. “Sometimes I’ll get lunch, but only when I didn’t have something for breakfast, the food tends to be cold but not all the time, the sauces are always gone though.” a junior had told us.
We ended off with the obvious answer, A lunch tended to have the most people getting lunch with somewhat positive feedback. but at the end just like how we expected D having the most complaints and less people getting food.
