A junior at Ballard named Swayer Wilson entered the Jefferson County Clerk’s office’s “License to Vote” Art Contest just recently. The contest serves as a vital initiative, encouraging students across elementary, middle, and high school divisions to channel their artistic talents into promoting democracy and voter engagement. The contest is open to all JCPS students and they are asked to submit a custom licence plate design. Sawyer’s design was put in first place this year!
When asked about the license plate he made, he said his design featured “… a voting box with some fun little rays coming out of it, then an eagle and an American flag.” Since he won the competition, Sawyer won gifts from the Clerk’s Office, such as a new Lenovo laptop and tickets to the Louisville Bell, the Slugger Museum and the Science Center.
This contest is open to all students every year. With this in mind, if you’re good at art you should consider participating!!
