The US Tennis Open just finished. In the final round of the tournament, it was Jannik Sinner up against Taylor Fritz. If you watched the US Open this year, you would know it was Sinner who won against Fritz in a very intense game with a core of 7-5. In my opinion, I believe Taylor was a great fit against Sinner for this year’s tournament. Yes, Fritz lost, but he put up a great fight, one better than expected when going against the world’s greatest Tennis player, Sinner.
With the huge games happening in this tournament, did you look at the people in the stands as well? Well, I sure did. The first thing I notice is their fashion. I think tennis fashion is likely in the top three most unique fashions in sports. So, let’s take a look into this year’s tennis fashion. Often you’ll see spectators in the stands wearing a type of line-day dress and a varsity sweater paired with bucket hats, tennis bracelets, sneakers, and suits with ties.
In the stands, there are also very famous people like Danai Gurira, Matthew McConaughey, Hasan Minhaj, Simone Biles, and Travis Kelce. All four of those celebrities listed had some type of unique fashion they put on specifically for this year’s US Open. For Danai Guria, it was a long blue line-up dress she had on and showed up with. Then there was also Matthew McConaughey, who came to this year’s US Open with an all white suit on him. Almost just like McConaughey’s outfit, there was Hasan Minhaj who had on a black suit and tie. Then, there was Simone Biles, who had comfortable white sneakers on while attending the US Open. Then, you could watch Travis Kelce wear that Gucci bucket hat on his head while he was at the tournament with Taylor Swift.
With all these style options people are able to put on just for the US Open, where do you think all of this fashion came from? Well, this is all because of the New York Fashion Week. Many different varieties of clothes and trends come specifically from the New York Fashion Week. Because of that, those trends slowly slid into the fashion of spectators at the US Open. The NYFW has heavily influenced what these spectating people will wear to these tournaments. Even though the US Open doesn’t have a specific dress code, the US Open has started their own trend of what people will usually be seen wearing to this popular sport event.
