Jameson started playing soccer at the very young age of just 18 months old. He’s loved playing soccer all of his life. I asked him in an interview recently about why he loves soccer so much. He answered, “because soccer is a great sport in general, and it’s exciting to watch. There are highs and lows for both teams throughout the game. And, it’s even more fun when you’re playing.” Jameson says that the more work you put into the sport, the more things go your way. “I’ve put in countless hours, improving on every aspect of my game. I’ve been doing three club trainings and two private training sessions a week for half of my life, but I did all that on top of games on the weekends.”
He started playing at LSA, which is a low level club, but then left because of coaching issues and went to Javanon. At Javanon, the coaches there treated him badly, so he left for Louisville City Academy, where he won a state cup. He also had multiple tournament wins with both Lou City and Javanon. He won the Gatorade Perseverance Award at IMG Academy, which is a college level program. He also represented Kentucky in the Olympic Development Program for the last five years as well as attending the US Youth Soccer Midwest Region ID Camp twice. Jameson’s biggest achievement was getting selected to play in Spain at the World Challenge, where his team played others from around the world and won their bracket.
Now, he is focusing on improving certain aspects of his game, mostly his speed of play. “I can always be faster.” I asked him what his plans for soccer in the future were. “I want to play my whole life. All of high school, but then just a little here and there.” He says he will put in the work, but doesn’t care if he plays in college or pro unless he gets offered. “I want to do well academically to support my future family.” Jameson is just a freshmen, so he has a whole lot of time ahead of him to decide what he wants to do, but so far it seems like he is figuring it out.
