Recently, the US Tennis Opening just ended. If you watched it, you already know who won and who lost. But, I want to get more into depth about the sports tournaments for the local people around. I want people to come together and watch any type of sports tournament and take a moment to think about it. Especially young people, though older people can still be inspired by sports because it’s never too late to start your dream. But, I’m not talking about just any sport, I’m talking about local sports people may not watch often. I encourage people to turn on sports they’ve never thought they would pay attention to. For example ice hockey, tennis, or maybe even fencing. But, since the US opening has recently ended, let’s focus on tennis.
The winner of the men’s tournament was Jannik Sinner, and Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s title. Girls, boys, women, and men alike deserve to be brought into the light in different sports because people will never know what they would love to play, either as a side hobby or even professionally, unless they take risks to find what sports they like.
Myself, my family, and a close friend of mine turned on the US Opening during the final rounds, with Taylor Fritz coming in second after his match with Sinner in the 2024 US Opening. I would say that it was a very intense match, especially with Sinner playing. If you know Sinner, you know he has his moments where he doesn’t hold back. I would say that match was one of them. I was on the edge of my seat all the time just watching tennis, and this is how I want other people to feel when watching new sports.
I was very moved by watching the dedication of all these people in the tournament doing their best to work to the top. I myself played tennis while I was much younger, which I enjoyed, but eventually fell off with naturally. Watching the US Opening inspired me to pick up a racket and start playing again, which is exactly what I want to happen to other people as well. More people need to get out of their comfort zone and pay attention to sports they never have before. After all, who knows? A local person in this area picking up a tennis racket to try something new could lead them to becoming a professional player.
