Here at Ballard High, we offer three parking lots, which contain parking for teachers and students. Recently, a woman in a white coupe has been driving around during school hours, chasing her dog around in her car. We have asked the administration to talk to the woman, and they have. They reported and said, “we have spoken to the lady and told her not to be on school property. However, she refused to leave the parking lot.” Students have been nervous that they will hit the running dog, as sometimes the dog can be across the parking lot, and the lady sometimes can’t find the dog. One student said “students and teachers fly through this parking lot, going upwards of 25 mph, if that dog were to pay attention, that dog could get run over.” Others have reported that they don’t care.
Even some have reported that students have started calling the school and talking about this woman. Recently, we have not been able to see this woman, and the lady is nowhere to be seen. I have stayed after and before school to see if I could track her down, and I couldn’t. It is also important to take note that she has been informed that her dog might get run over, and she doesn’t care. She knows and is informed that student drivers are mainly driving and that it is a very unsafe space to let her dog roam around freely without a leash.
Others have reported saying that they have seen the lady with her dog, and there are currently conspiracy theories stating that she can’t walk, and that is why she is chasing her dog around in her car, or that she doesn’t have a backyard. Although there are many possibilities, it is important to be careful and try not to speed in the parking lot at risk of this dog.
