Kentucky Art Education Association is a professional organization dedicated to promoting and supporting high quality visual arts education in Kentucky. They offer resources, professional development opportunities and advocate for art education throughout the state. They host conferences, events and award ceremonies.
They recently hosted one of their award ceremonies which was filled with excitement and inspiration, as well as, honored students who have made huge contributions to art education. This year’s winners represent a diverse range of their understanding of art showcasing the depth of their talent within Kentucky’s Art Education community.
A huge congratulations to this year’s winners, Bryce Hardin, a junior, who placed 1st, and Morgan Locke, a senior, who placed 2nd. Kentucky’s art education community is shining brightly thanks to the dedication of these individuals and more.
After interviewing our first place winner, I got some insight on his thought process behind the piece. “My main inspiration was my dogs and movies like a dogs purpose.” He mainly focused on the proportions of the dogs and the paw, altogether it took him three days. He exclaimed how “it felt good,” to win such a grand prize.
The ceremony also included inspiring speeches, student art exhibitions and opportunities for students and art educators around the world. The event served as a huge reminder that art education plays a vital role in creating well rounded individuals and growing communities. Their passion and commitment inspire us all to continue to advocate for the arts and empower young creative minds.
